Did you use a proper IRC client for the connection? Maybe that was the problem.Quote:

+: a required character when using SSL on mIRC
6697: port for SSL,
-i: identify the name that you want to use.
And accept SSL certificate
If you want to config yourself on mIRC, add just modify the port 6697 to +6697
SSL connection on mIRC requires a plus symbol ( + ) right before the port, you want to connect via port 6997, you must add + right before that number

Remember, there is a symbol # before channel nameCode:/j #ChannelYouWantToJoin
