New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson will miss the second England Test in Nottingham after testing positive for COVID-19 on the night before the second Test. Tom Latham will lead the side in his absence, while Hamish Rutherford has been brought into the squad as his replacement for the second Test.

"It's such a shame for Kane to be forced to withdraw on the eve of such an important match," head coach Gary Stead said on Friday (June 10). "We're all feeling for him at this time and know how disappointed he will be.

"Hamish was with the Test squad earlier in the tour and has been playing for the Leicestershire Foxes in the Vitality T20 Blast."

As a result of the positive test, Williamson will now begin a five-day isolation period.
