Chapman tests positive for COVID-19; Worker called into ODI squad

New Zealand have called in George Worker as a replacement into the ODI squad for Mark Chapman, who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Chapman, who was part of the T20I squad against Netherlands, tested positive via a Rapid Antigen Test in Auckland after waking up with symptoms on Sunday, a day following the team's arrival from Napier. Head coach Gary Stead confirmed the news on arrival in Mount Maunganui. The rest of the squad remains unaffected.

"It's really unfortunate for Mark and we're all really feeling for him at this time," Stead said. "He did the right thing in following the health guidelines and getting tested when he did."

Meanwhile Worker, who last played an ODI for New Zealand in 2018, will link up with the squad ahead of training on Monday.

"It's an exciting time for George to be back with the Black Caps and he thoroughly deserves his call up following his strong form in the Ford Trophy," Stead said.

The first of the three-match ODI series between New Zealand and Netherlands begins at the Bay Oval on Tuesday (March 29).
