The Xiaomi Pocophone F1's successor(s) may have already been announced
The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 was the undisputed 2018 flagship killer thanks to its impressive specifications and surprisingly low price. The smartphone is now nine months old, though, and that means a successor should be just around the corner. But according to one source, the replacements may have already been announced.
Yesterday, as some of you may already know, Xiaomi introduced the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro. These two smartphones offer extremely good specs at crazy low prices but, so far, are exclusive to the Chinese market. The reason behind this, according to the source, is that Xiaomi actually intends on marketing the two models internationally as the Pocophone F2 and Pocophone F2 Pro. At this point it’s unclear when an official announcement will take place – a late June or early July debut seems most likely – but it’s claimed that both second-generation Pocophone devices will retail at “astonishing” prices.
If Xiaomi makes no modifications to the smartphones, both the Poco F2 and F2 Pro will offer large 6.4-inch AMOLED displays with extremely thin bezels, a small chin, and no notch or punch hole. Alongside this, a pop-out selfie camera that offers a 20-megapixel resolution is to be expected.
Over on the rear, the Redmi-branded devices announced yesterday both sport triple-camera layouts made up of primary 48-megapixel sensors, 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle cameras, and an additional 8-megapixel telephoto alternative. It’s worth pointing out, however, that the 48-megapixel sensor on the Pro variant is different and should produce slightly better results.
Lastly, and perhaps more importantly, Xiaomi has equipped the regular variant with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730 and the Pro edition with the company’s Snapdragon 855. In both cases there’s a minimum of 6GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage and a maximum of 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
