T-Mobile is launching two new International Pass options for frequent travelers
After unveiling new Magenta and Magenta Plus plans just a couple of weeks ago (alongside some fairly controversial Netflix add-on price changes), T-Mobile has a few surprises in store today for subscribers that like to travel a lot. This time, we're talking exclusively pleasant surprises, as the "Un-carrier" is gearing up to expand its International Pass options starting tomorrow, June 5.
Currently, you can only get one such option when you need high-speed data and unlimited calling abroad. Namely, you have to pay $5 each day you want to use those services in one of 210+ countries and destinations around the world, which is enough to hook you up with a 4G LTE bucket of 512MB.
While this daily International Pass will remain unchanged, those in need of higher data allotments for longer periods of time can rejoice, as the popular existing offer is joined by two arguably sweeter deals. For $35, T-Mobile customers visiting the same "210+ countries and destinations" can score a significantly more generous 5 gigs of high-speed data to be used up to 10 days, with a monthly new International Pass including a whopping 15 gigs of web browsing and mobile streaming good for up to 30 days at a reasonable fee of $50.
T-Mo is unsurprisingly quick to point out similar services would cost "as much as $300" at the competition, while only covering a "portion of the countries and destinations" included here. As usual, the nation's third-largest carrier also takes the time to highlight there are no "hidden fees or gotchas" involved.
You'll want to keep in mind the new Magenta plan comes with unlimited talk, text, and up to 5GB of high-speed data a month for use in Canada and Mexico as standard as well. And if you only need to make a few calls while visiting a different foreign country, your domestic plan will allow you to do that without an International Pass, requiring a payment of $.25 per minute.
