T-Mobile brings Android 9.0 Pie to the mid-range LG Q7+

LG's mid-range phones rarely get the same attention as its G-series and V-series high-enders in the US, and that says a lot given the company's flagship sales are not exactly impressive either. But one non-flagship model you may have already forgotten it ever existed is receiving its first major software update as we speak, according to the folks over at MyLGPhones and a lone happy Redditor.

As it turns out, T-Mobile didn't forget all about the LG Q7+, a respectable mid-end handset released a little over a year ago at a fairly reasonable price. The Snapdragon 450-powered 5.5-incher came pre-loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo on the software side of things, which means it's now making the jump to OS version 9.0.

Technically, Pie is no longer the freshest flavor of Google's mobile platform, but in all honesty, there's almost no chance whatsoever Android 10 will ever make its way to a relatively little-known mid-ranger from 2018 with a Snapdragon 450 processor and 4GB RAM under the hood.

Interestingly, T-Mo seems to be bringing this over-the-air Android Pie update to the LG Q7+ ahead of delivering the same goodie pack for the far more popular and powerful LG G6. Then again, the G6 is also significantly older, having seen daylight on all big four US carriers way back in the spring of 2017.

It's also worth pointing out that the Q7 Plus is not available directly from Magenta anymore, although it can still be purchased at Metro by T-Mobile for as little as $59 (with an eligible number port-in). While we're on the subject, we should highlight the Metro-specific variant carrying model number Q610MA is reportedly getting the same Android 9.0 makeover treatment as the Q610TA version formerly sold by T-Mo. September security patches are included as well, which is another nice and rare achievement for old devices in this price bracket.
