The Snapdragon 898 chipset may be announced by Qualcomm as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Qualcomm has a pretty good naming scheme for its chipsets. On the other hand, when the product line, which had been constantly expanding until a few years ago, started to overlap, it caused various confusions. It looks like the company is changing the name scheme with the next flagship chipset that will be introduced next month. Accordingly, it has been suggested that the Snapdragon 898 may appear as Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Digital Chat Station and Ice Universe, which provide reliable leak information, claimed that Qualcomm's new mobile chipset will be called Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 instead of Snapdragon 898. The name change will likely spread to the company's other series later, and will define the segment and performance of each new chipset.
