Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) starts receiving Android 8.0 Oreo, but don't get your hopes

It looks like the Galaxy A3 (2017) is the next Samsung smartphone to receive the long-awaited Android 8.0 Oreo update. But it's not the only Samsung handset to get the update before the Galaxy S7/S7 edge, as some of you might remember that another Galaxy A series phone, namely the Galaxy A5 (2017), received the same treatment last week.

However, if you're a proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) don't get your hopes up, as this seems more like a limited rollout with just one country on the list of regions where Android Oreo is available for download, rather than a global deployment.

On the flip side, if you live in Russia, you will eventually be able to update your Galaxy A3 (2017) to Android 8.0 Oreo. The only thing we know about the update is that it includes the April security patch.

According to a report from Samsung Turkey, the Galaxy A3 and A5 (2017) are expected to receive Android 8.0 Oreo updates in early June, so if you don't live in Russia, then you'll probably have to wait two more months for the update to arrive.
