Samsung Display rumored to make $20 billion in revenue from iPhone panels in 2018
A new report from Korea indicates that Samsung Display will churn out between 180-200 million flexible OLED screens for Apple's iPhones in 2018.
If this information proves to be accurate, this would mean that Samsung Display will collect between $19.8 to $22 billion in revenue from these panels alone, since the estimated cost of a display module (consists of an AMOLED panel, cover glass, and Force Touch sensor) is around $110 (according to data from IHS Market).
It is estimated that Samsung Display produced around 50 million panels for the iPhone X in 2017. The fourfold increase in supply for 2018 is largely attributed to improved yield rates at one of the display maker's production lines. Earlier this year, only 6 in 10 of the manufactured panels supposedly made the cut, but yield rates are currently said to be above 80%. An industry watcher has commented on the developments:

It looks like the yield rates have reached almost 90 percent, and the fact that Samsung reached such levels, even after the world’s highest quality flexible OLED standards were applied, is quite significant.
All in all, Samsung is expected to make more in revenue from iPhone X parts than from components made for the Galaxy S8. This symbiosis between the two tech behemoths might seem weird to some, but at the end of the day, there are profits to be made.
