Question about DNS

Hi peps,

I’m looking for a free tool which could help me to fully use my android while being not in the Netherlands but my homeland, Romania on vacay at least once in a season.Youtube is essential for me and while being there I cannot watch everything that I want!!

I don’t want to spend money on it, coz I’m a student and I don’t have a lot of extra money :D so can I get something safe for free?

Uhm, I think you're a bit confused.

Try to google DNS, or watch a Youtube video on it, so you understand what it is and what it does.

Now what do you mean by fully use? If geo-blocking is the issue, you will need a proxy or VPN.

Setup a Debian stable, and run it on there.

I googled a lot about all these things. However, I prefer to stick to DNS and especially on Trust DNS. I found out that this app unlocks generic content (one of it is youtube) and that's what I actually need...

Actually, from what I understand, you only want to be able to watch some content on youtube that is blocked when you are in Romania, right? If this is your only issue, there is no need to pay for a vpn at all. Dns changing app will do the trick for sure.
I haven't heard about trust dns before but I installed it out of curiosity. It's a free app that Surfshark launched recently apparently. Surfshark is a popular vpn provider from what I know, so I guess this trust dns should work fine. Also super simple app, I like the design!

Who said anything about buying a VPN? I wouldn't trust anyone with handling my traffic, fuck that.

Set up a Debian Server, OpenVPN with client cert auth, and port-forwarding on your router. Use some free dyndns to keep track of the current IP. Simple and free. If you got a couple bucks for a VPS, then rent one and you don't have to keep your PC running at home. If you do choose to go the VPS route, use full disk encryption to protect your shit from the hoster (https://github.com/Val/dedibox_fully...debian_install).

Now I'm not sure how one would use DNS to evade geo-blocking.

Edit: Well yes actually, I do have an idea. You could tunnel TCP via DNS, and use the upstream DNS server as source IP. BUT that comes with terrible performance, and would not be very suitable for streaming at all. Check out Iodine (https://github.com/yarrick/iodine)
