Nokia 6.1 gets new update with security improvements
HMD Global, the current manufacturer of Nokia handsets, has a reputation for releasing timely software upgrades to its smartphones. It looks like the company isn't planning on resting on its laurels, as it recently rolled out a new software upgrade to its Nokia 6.1 model.
The update in question brings the latest Android Security patch (September). It weighs in at 81.7MB and has currently been spotted reaching Nokia 6.1 devices in Germany, India, and the UAE. One of the important fixes included in the update addresses a critical security vulnerability in Media framework that could enable a remote attacker using a specially crafted file to execute arbitrary code.
Users in other markets have yet to report about the appearence of the update, but it's likely that a broader rollout should commence soon. You can check for it manually by going to Settings > Other > Software Update. As always, make sure that your phone is sufficiently charged and connected to a Wi-Fi network before proceeding with the patch.
