iPhone 4S / iPad 3 Absinth Jailbreak

1. Download & extract Absinthe from the .zip file, then launch Absinthe
2. Attach your iPhone, iPad or iPod to your computer & click ‘Jailbreak’.
3. Absinthe will automatically commence its DFU guide. If you know how to put your device into ‘DFU Mode,’ you can do this at your leisure; when done, Absinthe will acknowledge a successful DFU operation.
4. Press ‘Jailbreak’ again (if necessary) and let Absinthe do its thing! You will see wonderful lines of text scroll on your device’s screen to assure you that something is happening.
5. After a few magical seconds, Absinthe will display a ‘Complete’ message. At this point, the Absinthe injection is complete – just wait for your device to reboot automatically.
6. Once your device has finished rebooting, double-check that you have an active internet connection, then locate & press the ‘Loader’ icon on your device. This action will download the Cydia app and install it for you.
7. When Cydia has been installed successfully, your device needs to (& will automatically) reboot one final time.
8. You’re done! Enjoy

Mate this is all great info but don't post it all in the same thread, make different threads for each topic so members can find it easier.

I moved all the posts here to there very own threads in the jailbreak section.

This jailbreak is for the latest firmware 5.1.1, if you don't have the latest firmware then update in iTunes the perform this jailbreak

after jailbreaking how to unlock iphone 4s 5.1.1

You use a program called ultrasnow, you need to make sure your baseband can be unlocked first

Go to settings/general/about and where it says (modem firmware) this is your baseband, google to see if this baseband can be unlocked

Normally if you were upgrading firmware to the latest version you would preserve the baseband in case you ever wanted to go back to your past firmware for whatever reason but as your running on the latest firmware you don't need to do this.

You will need the original sim card of your current provider to preform the unlock.

Some basebands cannot be unlocked

You didn't do the unlock the right way then, do it again but read everything very carefully.

I'll post a tutorial on how to do it soon
