Honor Magic 2 appears with P20 Pro-like rear design, gradient colors
As Honor is a Huawei sub-brand, its smartphones tend to resemble those of its parent company quite closely, at least from the front, anyway. In the case of the upcoming Honor Magic 2, however, the company appears to have adopted a slightly different strategy.
As confirmed already, the high-end smartphone will adopt a unique bezel-less design that takes advantage of a slidable format. Over on the rear, however, a newly-leaked image suggests the smartphone will resemble the Huawei P20 Pro quite closely. This is due to the vertical camera setup in the corner that makes use of three rear cameras. This time around, though, one tweak has been made to streamline the look. Namely, Honor has reduced the gaps between individual sensors and extended the main module slightly in order to fit in a dual-tone LED flash, rather than placing it below the whole setup.
It’s unclear at this point which camera sensors will be included on the rear, although those present on the Huawei Mate 20 are likely candidates. This means that a main 20-megapixel camera could join a second 20-megapixel wide-angle one, and a third 8-megapixel sensor complete with a telephoto lens capable of 2x optical zoom.
The Honor Magic 2 will go official on October 31 in Beijing. As is often the case, initial availability will be limited to China. However, within a matter of weeks, the smartphone is expected to launch in international markets such as Europe and should be available in at least two gradient options, as pictured. Unfortunately, a US release seems unlikely at this point.
