Genshin Impact Makes $60 Million Just On Mobile In Its First Week
Within the first week after Genshin Impact's release, it has already managed to make huge sales through its gacha-based shop system. Gacha games have been a popular genre particularly in the mobile gaming industry, and Genshin Impact goes to show how much money gacha games can really make.
The term "gacha" originally came from Japan with the concept revolving around a gambling system. These games typically encourage players to purchase "rolls" or loot boxes which give them a chance to obtain special items. Genshin Impact uses this system to randomly give players weapons and characters. Players can earn chances to obtain random items through gameplay, but there's a secondary system that allows them to buy in-game currency that can be converted into additional rolls. Genshin Impact now ranks among the top mobile launches in history, and this week it came second only to Honor of Kings in sales. The $60 million figure doesn't even cover all the money it's made so far, with the game being available on PC and PS4 as well. Sadly for Xbox fans, Genshin Impact has no interest in Xbox, though its developer is looking at next-gen options. It seems people are eager to try out its anime aesthetic and action gameplay in a world inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
On mobile platforms, Genshin Impact has already reached 17 million downloads, with numbers still growing as people continue to talk about it. The game offers an interesting elemental combat system, cute characters, and a massive world to explore. Since the game is an RPG, people can spend hours grinding out levels and characters, trying to perfect the ultimate anime-styled combat team. With so many quests, bosses, and dungeons, the game has hours of gameplay to invest in.
The biggest selling point the game offers is being free and available on so many platforms. It even offers a co-op mode as well for people to play with their friends.
