Galaxy A6 & A6+ renders reveal Infinity displays & more

A new set of 360º video renders reveal Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy A6 line. It has been rumored for some time now that the South Korean giant would be expanding its updated Galaxy A lineup with the introduction of two slightly cheaper devices, dubbed the Galaxy A6 and A6+. Now, thanks to a new set of renders courtesy of @OnLeaks, Samsung’s new devices have been shown off in full.

Looking at the render videos, both devices sport similar designs to the previously-announced Galaxy A8 and A8+. This means the front panel is now dominated by a tall, 18.5:9 display and features slim top and bottom bezels. Because of this, the fingerprint scanner has once again been moved to the rear, adopting the same position seen on the Galaxy S9 line. Interestingly, and unlike the more expensive Galaxy A8+, the new A6+ looks set to boast a dual-camera setup that will likely feature a secondary telephoto lens. The regular Galaxy A6, on the other hand, will boast just one rear sensor. Both devices will, however, include a dual-tone LED flash to accompany the setup. Finishing off the design choices, both devices are set to include a micro-USB connector which will be placed between a bottom-firing speaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Size wise, the details provided by @OnLeaks mean the new Galaxy A6 lineup will be near identical in dimensions to the Galaxy A8 lineup. This means that the regular Galaxy A6 can be expected to boast a 5.6-inch AMOLED display and the Galaxy A6+ should feature a larger 6-inch panel. Aside from overall size, other differences will also be present in the internal hardware department. After all, the Samsung’s own Exynos 7870 processor is set to be present inside the smaller model alongside 3GB of RAM, while the Plus variant is rumored to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 626 and 4GB of RAM.

Lastly, and perhaps on a more interesting note, it is also mentioned that these devices could carry the Galaxy J8 and J8+ names in certain countries. In the most likely scenario, markets where the premium Galaxy A line is already established should see Samsung launch the devices under the Galaxy A6 line, while those where the cheaper Galaxy J series is more popular will instead receive the Galaxy J8-branded devices.
