Apple releases iOS 12.1 public beta with Group FaceTime
Tuesday, we told you that Apple had released the iOS 12.1 developer beta, which includes Group FaceTime. However, unless you are registered with Apple as a developer, this build is off limits to you no matter how badly you want to see Group FaceTime in action. But there is good news today as the iOS 12.1 public beta is now available, and that means if you are a member of the Apple Beta Software Program, you can install iOS 12.1 public beta and use Group FaceTime. If you're not a member, you can sign up by going to beta.apple.com.
Keep in mind that there are reasons that this is a beta release. Which means that there could be some issues with the software. Before installing the beta, Apple suggests backing up your data. For now, the only change compared to iOS 12 is the inclusion of Group FaceTime, which allows for a 32-way video chat. Last month, Apple said that it was delaying the release of the feature until the Fall.
The update is offered to compatible iPhone models, which include the Apple iPhone 5s and later (including the iPhone SE), 12.9-inch Apple iPad Pro (1st and 2nd generations), 10.5-inch Apple iPad Pro, 9.7-inch Apple iPad Pro, Apple iPad Air (1st and 2nd generations), Apple iPad 5th generation, Apple iPad mini (2nd, 3rd and 4th generations), Apple iPod touch (6th generation).
