    VPN nessecary on private trackers?

Title says it all. Are VPN's nessecary on private tracking websites.

Has any of you ever been contacted from their ISP from a torrent obtained from a private tracker?

I'm pretty new to the private tracker scene and this is something I have been curious about.

i haven't received anything from my ISP after i joined private trackers .

for public trackers i received 2 Notice of Claimed Infringement
from Warner Bros and Lionsgate Films

there is no chance i'm using public trackers again . you are safe to use private trackers

The same thing here. Never anything from private trackers, but one notice from a public tracker for some random movie download. Naturally your mileage might vary and some ISPs might be monitoring the traffic, but staying on private trackers, keeping encryption enabled in the torrent client and using ssl for the websites should be key to success.

Many private trackers forbid using a VPN so you'd better ask the staff first if it's allowed. The built-in encryption in clients is pretty useless and it won't protect you.

I have always used a paid VPN on torrents site and never been ban or asked not to use it. At the end of the day I would rather put my faith in my own hands then to hope any tracker site public or private puts my privacy first. Also people do get letters from their ISP on private torrent sites, I have seen people mention it at Torrent Leech and Torrent Day. In the end it really is just the luck of the draw on getting caught.

Absolutely correct. But some VPNs block P2P filesharing. However, some have even P2P optimized servers.

I've found, living in China, many trackers have said they are okay with a VPN as long as you have a dedicated IP address and not a shared IP. Mine isn't dedicated so I don't use it but I live in China at the moment so I'm not to worried about anyone coming for me.
