    Thumbs up seeding problam

guys I was uploading a file , like 10 GB when I start seeding
I didn't even uploaded 1 GB I saw someone seeding with me
it's mean that person downloaded my file completely
even tho I didn't finish my seeding ...

can any one tell me how that person finished downloading even I didn't yet finish uploading ?

If it was a file you got from another tracker I suspect they already had the file too from another tracker. They could have simply added your .torrent to their client and became another seeder immediately. This process is known as cross-seeding and is legitimate and allowed on most trackers if done the correct way. If they use rss or auto-dl irssi they may even automatically cross-seed the file from another tracker.

If the file was unique to you there are ways you can trick some trackers into thinking you are a seeder when you are not. The people that do this are usually ratio cheaters and on the sites I am staff on they will get perma banned.

Someone is cross seeding mate, nothing illegal about that. Many people do it on all trackers.
You uploaded a torrent which you obviously got from somewhere else. Well the other seeder did as well

As said above if the file has the same hash and is available somewhere else then he was just reseeding it. But if it's an original file that you did yourself then there is something wrong with it.

He has said that he did not get the file elsewhere and that it was unique to him. Therefore, it was not cross-seeding. There are methods that trick trackers into thinking that you are a seeder when you are not; It appears that the other user was doing this.

If your torrent is unique and couldn't be sourced elsewhere the only way i know of someone getting being marked as a seeder when they are not is to stop the torrent in the client and then do a fast resume ; this often will tell the tracker you are a seeder when you are not a seeder. This tricks the tracker into favoring the dummy seeder and giving them priority and additional traffic.

The way we have caught people out with this is to pause the torrent before you have fully seeded it to anyone (say at 50%) that way if you see another seeder then you know it is impossible and staff can see that and know the ghost seeder is cheating. I am not sure, but pretty sure that fast resume is a tool used in some torrent cheating software.

thats what i learned from BlindFlury
