I had an interview for a tracker and they asked where I heard about said tracker. I found out about it from this forum and I said so. They politely reminded me that trading/selling/giving invites are against the rules and I got to sign up in the end. But either way it was awkward to answer that question. Is there any other way to say how you find out about trackers in interviews?

I have to agree that you're lucky and those staff were kind enough to give you a chance.
I'm sure you can also find the information of the interview from somewhere more official, like from a friend (your friends tell you to come here for example; you don't need to tell them who your friends are), from a tracker or from other blog (most well-known trackers do not like TI, you must have seen this from the rules of TI: SAFETY TIPS ). Try to find it from somewhere else and give them more reasonable reasons. If you're not sure, I think google may help.

P/S:
- I'm not sure that you should reveal that much info about your interview here because you might be identified and that's not safe.

You can say something like you were searching for tracker lists via google and their name popped up, it suited your needs so you wanted to join. By mentioning forums like this you are jeopardising your own account and any other user who may use TI and the tracker.

This must have been a low tiers tracker if they accepted you even after you mentionned TI.org . On high tiers trackers, don't even think about mentionning TI.org if you don't want to eat a global ban.

That was not really a smart move.

Thanks for input guys. The thing was, that I really didn't know what to say when I was asked the question. Like I had to say something. I couldn't say from a friend, because the follow-up question would be "who is this friend?" and I didn't know other sources of lists of trackers. I like the idea of saying that I googled my needs and found the tracker, I think I will stick with that if I get an interview somewhere else.

I guess you could say a friend recommended the tracker but they wish to remain anonymous. All about thinking quick on your feet so to speak, maybe quick on your bum if you’re seated enjoy your new tracker anyway!
