    Total Noob

    This is pretty embarrassing but I don't want to ask advice from people I don't know on the trackers I'm on, here goes: I need some tools to keep my ratio up, I tried d/l smaller files and also slowing my download speed to a crawl but it's like every torrent I get on there are so many seeders I'll end up breaking nervous and stopping the d/l. Any advice on what you can do to keep your ratio up? My connection is not lightning fast but it's not crawling either, I don't want to get booted from the one tracker I REALLY wanted, any real help would be appreciated. All of the torrents I d/led in the past were on public trackers so the fact is I'm a total noob. I know ya'll won't let me down.

    @geetarman513, you can take a look at this guide, if you haven't done it already: How To get Good ratio on your Private Tracker

    A few tips that have paid off for me, many times. If the tracker has a bonus system, d/l a bunch of small sized torrents, seed them as much as you can and exchanche the earned bonus points for upload volume. Download only freeleech (also, take good advantage of any possible sitewide freeleech period) and very popular torrents as soon as they get uploaded (most downloaded TV episodes, for instance).
    And of course, having a seedbox is very big help.

    Thanks man, I'll take a look at that and take your advice as well, I felt stupid asking but everybody has to learn some time, it sure didn't help my street cred around here, not that I had much to begin with lol!

    @geetarman513

    Honestly my advice is to read up about IRC as we talked a little about before and hang out in the tracker's announce channel.

    Think of a an IRC server as a website and you need an IRC client to visit it. Look up mirc or hexchat as irc clients. An IRC channel is basically like a chat room on that server.

    Once you have the server of your tracker you connect to it and finding their announce channel make take some googling around.

    When a new torrent is posted on their announce channel just check it out and if your connection is fast enough and its not too big for you just add it to your client and as you download it, others will download from you.

    To be honest that is how I built a pretty good ratio with trackers when I join them. That and having a seedbox is good for speed.
