Cross Seeding [Outside Seeding] Error: Torrent is already in download list

I am trying to cross seed one of my torrents.

I have downloaded the full torrent from Tracker 1 and it is seeding. I found identical torrent in Tracker 2 and hence I downloaded its .torrent file. But when I try to add it in the client, the client responds: "Torrent is already in download list. Since it is a private torrent, trackers weren't merged."

The client I am using is qbittorrent. I am already cross seeding a few torrents across the same two trackers without any problems. This seems to be the issue with the particular .torrent file.

Can someone guide me how to solve this?

@torfreak have you checked that they really don't use any of the same tracker URLs - maybe they share one of them, maybe you should just remove the torrent and try it again, i don't have any more ideads right now

Tried removing the original torrent and did some bittorrent acrobatics...adding and removing and stuff like that. No luck so far; qbittorrent simply won't add the other torrent. Google is no help either.

    Thanks anyway,

@torfreak - i don't have that much expierence with cross-seeding, but well its great to save space on your HDDS and have more of each torrent

well, you could try to install utorrent and see if it works with another client, maybe you could also try to reinstall qbittorrent, or update it if you haven't done in the last days.

as said in chatbox - this can be a long (and unfunny) story of trail and errors - but you said it works for other torrents, so its really hard to guess whats the problem.

True, I found a thread on some other site via Google search; it seems there is nothing much you can do if the error says something like "torrent already in the download list". So I guess it has something to do with the .torrent file itself. (here)

Move to uTorrent will take some efforts...will have to open the port in router and firewall...and move all existing torrents there. Maybe tomorrow.

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
Did you try to delete the .torrent file fromTracker 1. And also remove it from your client but leave the data intact.
Then download from Tracker 2 and see if itnscans to 100% and start seeding

Yes, in that case it checks out 100% and seeds to Tracker 2 but then I can't add the original torrent for Tracker 1...same error. Besides I have to keep seeding on Tracker 1 or else I get hit and run warning. I think I will just have to let it go on this torrent. Will try cross seeding on some other torrent and will see what happens.

    Thanks,

Yeap, this is because the 2 torrents have identical hash values. Nothing you can do really. It's either one or the other

The most reasonable is that both torrents have the same hash.
Like you download a torrent from a Nexusphp-based tracker A or a Gazelle-based tracker B and upload it to another Gazelle-based tracker C. Because tracker C does not change the torrent's hash, so when you re-download that uploaded torrent from tracker C, its hash is still the same as the downloaded from tracker A or tracker B.
If you force seeding that torrent on both tracker A and tracker C, your client will send statistic to both trackers, especially when there is someone downloading that torrent, your upload will be wrongly recorded. Both trackers will find out that you are cheating.
    - Don't ever seed torrents which have the same hash on the same client.
    - Don't upload torrents the hash of which have not been modified or will surely not be modified.

P/S: if you find the same problem on any trackers, please report it to their staff to solve the problem. In some cases, the uploader may be warned or banned, but your action will save all the rest of us. Sure that you will not tolerate cheating or cheating-related, right?

Install another client and seed same folder from 2 different clients maybe? @torfreak
