    autodl-irrsi filters not working in rutorrent

    My autodl-irssi filters are not working...what am I doing wrong?

    Here are some screenshots:

    General Tab:
    autodl-irssi-1.jpg

    P2P Tab:
    autodl-irssi-2.jpg

    The Action Tab is set to global settings and the global settings in autodl-irssi preferences is set to save the .torrent file to the "watch" folder. However, it is not working.

    When I created some Test filters, it saved the torrent to "watch" folder but didn't add them; so I enabled "autowatch" feature in the "autotools" section of rutorrent preferences and set it to download automatically. Then it worked fine for my test filters.

    But then for the filters that I created to actually download some TV shows, it is again not working...any help?

    @torfreak,try this: In the P2P tab, on match releases option write: Brooklyn?Nine-Nine?S04E15?720p*
    This is for the particular filter (but the same applies to all filters). Try to use ? when there is 1 character between 2 key words and * to substitute multiple characters.

    @torfreak you can also try to enter the show name at the TV/Movies tab and leave P2P empty.
    eg. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

    Another question....i presume you have experience with autodl...you know that it doesn't work like RSS...if the show was released (announced in IRC) you will not catch it afterwards

    @jimmy7, I will try that...hope it works.
    @masonos, I will try that also; for one filter I will try what Jimmy7 said, and for another show I will try your method.

    I have no prior experience with autodl-irssi, but I understand that my filter must be setup ahead of the IRC announcement and autodl-irssi must be listening in the IRC, i.e. the filter doesn't know about previous announcements, it only takes into consideration the announcements made after the filter is created.

    Also another suggestion. Avoid the SXXEXX in the filter...The correct place to put it is under the TV/Movies
    Seasons: 4
    Episodes: Leave it empty
    And check "Smart Episode" - It will only download 1 copy of the episode and remember it so that next week will download the next.

    You should also uncheck under General the Max 1 downloads per Week as Smart Episode will take care of that for you. 1 download per week might create a problem for you actually if the show has a double episode in 1 week as it happened last week with The Blacklist which had 2 episodes the same day

    @jimmy7, @masonos

    Thanks for all the help and the suggestions. With your help I am on track to properly understand how autodl-irssi works.

    I setup a total 7 filters; 5 of them worked and 2 didn't.

    I have taken some details from my auto.cfg file so as to see what is going on.

    First, the filters that worked; I set max-downloads 1 per week just to ensure that I don't take unnecessary hits on my ratio.

    [filter TEST]
    match-sites = tl
    max-size = 500MB
    max-downloads = 1
    max-downloads-per = week

    Feedback: It worked. I didn't specify anything in P2P or TV/Movies tabs. I just set the max download size to 500MB to see how it goes. It promptly downloaded the next announced torrent which was under 500MB.

    [filter TEST2]
    match-releases = *c*
    max-size = 500MB
    max-downloads = 1
    max-downloads-per = week

    Feedback: This worked too. I used P2P tab to randomly match any release that has a character "c" with a max size of 500MB.

    [filter Blindspot S02E19]
    match-releases = Blindspot?S02E19?720p*
    match-sites = tl
    max-downloads = 1
    max-downloads-per = week

    Feedback: It worked too. I specified release info in P2P tab and left the TV/Movies tab empty.

    [filter Arrow S05E19]
    match-sites = tl
    max-downloads = 1
    max-downloads-per = week
    match-releases = Arrow?S05E19*720p*

    Feedback: This also worked. Here too I specified release info in P2P tab and left the TV/Movies tab empty.

    [filter Designated Survivor S01E18]
    match-sites = tl
    shows = Designated Survivor
    seasons = 1
    episodes = 18
    resolutions = 720p
    max-downloads = 1
    max-downloads-per = week

    Feedback: This also worked. In this case I left the P2P tab empty and used the TV/Movies tab to specify the name of the show, the episode number, and the desired resolution.

    Now the filters that didn't work:

    [filter Archer 2009 S08E04]
    match-sites = tl
    shows = Archer
    seasons = 8
    episodes = 4
    resolutions = 720p
    max-downloads = 1
    max-downloads-per = week

    Feedback: In this case I left the P2P tab empty and used the TV/Movies tab to specify the name of the show, episode number, and resolution. I think it didn't work because on TL the show is identified as "Archer 2009" and not as "Archer".

    [filter The 100 S04E09]
    match-releases = The?100?S04E09?720p*
    match-sites = tl
    max-downloads = 1
    max-downloads-per = week

    Feedback: Here I used P2P tab to specify the details and left the TV/Movie tab empty. In this case I think it has something to do with the name of the torrent. EDIT: I just found out that 720p version of this episode hasn't come out yet. So...

    All in all, I think I have a good handle on how this works and will push it further. For newbies like me, I would advice caution. Yesterday while I was playing with this, I setup a TEST filter, wherein I by mistake specified max download size to 500GB instead of 500MB and didn't specify the max-download per week or day. It took off and downloaded torrents worth 12 GB in 3-4 minutes. Though I will survive, I took a good hit on my ratio. On a site like TL, especially when you are new, it can just wreck it.

    Thanks again to jimmy7 and masonos for helping me out.

    Now I wonder why the filters didn't work the first time...I didn't do anything differently. None of the five filters worked. Could it be because of the "*" at the end? E.g., in my previous attempt, I specified release name like this: Brooklyn*Nine-Nine*S04E15*720p

    When I tried the second time, I included an asterisk at the end e.g. Arrow?S05E19*720p* which I didn't put in the first attempt. Is this why the filters didn't work?

    I believe that's the reason, yes.

    Yes correct. The 720p* mean "everything after 720p". So without the asterisk it's looking for a torrent that ends up with 720p which never happens.

    As i mention above using the 1 download per week will cost you some episodes so i would advice against it. But it's your choice.

    Edit: Another example was last night's episode of Black-ish. S03E21 and S03E22 aired. With your filters you would only capture S03E21 and miss the other one.

    Yes, I am going to do away with the 1 download per week option.

    But for that I need to learn how to stop repeated download of same episode from different release groups. For example if the "The Blacklist S04E18" is released by two different groups within minutes of each other, if the 1 download per week limitation is not there, won't it download both the torrents?

    In autodl-irssi, on the General tab there is this checkbox "Download duplicate releases". I guess by keeping it unchecked, we can stop repeated download of same episode from different release groups?

    EDIT: It seems that "Download duplicate releases" option is only for re-announced releases. So technically, if there are two torrents matching Arrow?S05E19*720p* from two separate release groups, they are considered two different releases and both will be downloaded.
