    BIOHOST box/company review

I was confronted by one of the Biohost staff to take part in a trial of a box for a review here are my thoughts:

    TRIAL: 7 days.
    http://www.biohost.info/index.php?p=seedboxes

Box: FIRE BOX (I was told "shadow"?)
    Cost: Monthly Fee $14.95
    HDD: 75 GB
    Bandwidth Line: 1000mbit Dedicated (un-metered)
    Dedicated RAM: 512MB
    Burst RAM: 768MB
    GUI: ruTorrent 3.3
    FTP

    Pro's:
-downloads straight to 50MB/s and stays there, if your looking for fast download speed this is really good.
-Upload was fine it stuck around 8MB/s and had bursts upto 20MB/s (depending on the torrent obviously)
    -FTP
    -good pricing

    Con's:
-To be honest I am used to to fancy SSD's and shit loads of ram, so my opinion may be a little harsh... I found that the minimal amount of ram and a more than likely 7,200rpm hdd slowed the overall experience right down, It took ages for a download to start and if you have more than 3 downloads at once it kills rutorrent and you have to ask for a restart through the support ticket.
    -no sshd
    -crashes on heavy loads

    Overall:
It was extremely nice of the staff to let me trial a box for a few days however I'm not sure if I put all my effort into really testing this seedbox but I am a casual user and i leave torrents uploading for days and if you are in the same position as me (casual uploader) than this is the box for you. In terms of competition with all the other seedbox providers out there they are all pretty much the same in terms of pricing and speed, I can clearly see that Biohost have changed alot since I last used them and they are definetly worth giving a go!

    In Conclusion:
If you are a regular user here and apart of other torrent invite communities it is clear to see Biohost have been posting EVERYWHERE explaining that after new management things have turned around and things are alot better, trying to make there company as popular in a positive light as ever in which I applaud them on their effort and willingness to push their product along. I hope in the future they add extras such as SSD's and that, but at the moment they need to clean up their reputation. I can see that this review is not just based on the box but the whole company which is good considering you need to trust a supplier before you buy, I believe they have changed but we will see.

    Note it advertises 1000mbit DEDICATED

Says 6 hours set up time* (*up to 48 hours)

    It took 65 hours approximatly

    now for the fun part

I drew a rectangle where you need to read, the owner clearly says the lines are shared, or I'm going insane.

Basically, long set up time, I had slow speeds (I barely managed to hit 15MB/s on upload), poor customer service took long to answer, won't refund, false advertising.

/edit on the other hand, while I was waiting for this box to get set up my patience fainted and I bought the bronze box from www.superseedbox.com for 29.99$

I then proceeded to test this beast out, on the first day with good torrent I averaged about 19MB/s for the whole afternoon, note that the selling page says 100mbit dedicated.

    Don't believe that speed?
    That's right I hit 24.6MB/s

The customer service takes about 20 minutes to answer and set up time was instant.

^ This is a joke, Dedicated means dedicated to the server NOT user, who ever believes that is really messed in the head. Also you AGREED to a non refundable TOS prior to purchasing, we can not refund for a service as per paypals user agreement. As for you not getting good speeds that's more less your fault for not knowing how to properly utilize a seedbox. We have over a thousand happy customers and your just one of them who don't understand how seedboxes work obviously.

Then it is false advertising and misleading. True I am new to seedboxes and the the way you talk about the bandwidth line is that it is dedicated to you. Misleading information leads to frustration and anger.

Also, are you REALLY saying I'M not able to utilize a seedbox? I believe you must be blind as you have not seen the third screenshot.

Check for yourself, 24MB/s on a 100mbps connection. Don't believe me? I have 7 more other screenshots all over 19MB/s ranging from 11am to noon on that day. At the moment it's running a steady 9MB/s because I need to upload new torrents.

Also getting a service refunded by paypal is nearly impossible since it is intagible. I had free time yesterday so I took time to file a complaint on econsumers.gov as per proposition of the lady on the paypal customer service line (which I called to know why services was even in the optons in the dispute filing if it is intagible).

Also you kept calling me a liar in the dispute, I lol'd each time.

    /edit

In the long run I'd rather pay 5$ more to have 7gb ram more and have 100mpbs for me alone than to have to share 1000mpbs with who knows how many users.

You do realize we are an offshore company, the US government does NOT affect us in anyway.

Also a 100mbps connection can NOT push 20mb/s, it's impossible unless the datacenter allows bursting which I highly doubt. Ram doesn't play a big factor for rutorrent, In the end I did refund you and offered to move you to another server but yes in the dispute you claimed you NEVER received your seedbox which is a flat out lie as you even admit yourself you've used it. Why black out the "Non receipt" part of the dispute? I'm very sorry you never had a good experience with us and wish you the best with your new host and are glad you were able to move along. If you would've asked we would have easily told you how to optimize your torrenting to obtain the best possible speeds, instead you lied to paypal and filed a non receipt dispute.

The advertising is NOT false as the 1gbit line IS dedicated to the server, we do not say "DEDICATED TO USER". Also it's cute, these screen shots your posting are from OUR service haha, I will be disabling your box after this post so hope you don't get any hit and runs. Also I would like someone else who knows a thing or two about servers to back me up about the 100mbps can NOT hit 20mb/s,

    100 divided by 8 = 12.5, fool.

    Enjoy twilight!

Well it did, look at the screenshot >.>, do they allow burst? How should I know? Ask them.

As stated in many comments in the dispute, first of all I did file the dispute of NON-RECEIPT not knowing you had given me access less than 2 hours before that. Right off the bat when I saw I had access, I did not deny receiving it. Maybe you did not read enough what I said. Secondly, where did you refund me? oh yeah never. You offered me to move to another server? yeah right, when? never once again.

I ordered at around 11pm eastern time on feb 27. You replied to my support ticket asking why it was so long to set up at 3 o clock on march 1st. Ok just checked back the time I opened the ticket, 12:46pm on march 1st, 2 hours before you gave me access.

In the end my dispute was basically valid at that time.

That part isn't blacked out, it has been replaced with "Not as described" as you escalated the claim while it was still at Non-Receipt in hope that paypal would look at

Best possible speeds? I'm hitting twice the speed I should be getting on a 100mbps box. Come back to me when you do that.

    It is misleading then.

Are you dumb? The URL clearly reads "fx.superseedbox.info", your service? I lol'd.
Your box you rented me, has been at 20.7gb used since the first night. This box has well over 4.8TO uploaded at this very moment.

    Disabling my box?

    Account Suspension and Termination

It seems like abuse of power to me.

Lmfao, God your great, you do realize you can "visit" a site then change the navigation bar to show someone else. And no you always kept the dispute as non receipt as I spoke with paypal about this as well and told them flat out to refund you for stupidity.

    Enjoy twilight!

Yet you fail to get some good argumentation. You are no fun. The screenshot is not altered. Your seedbox is still at 20.7gb and have been since Day 1. I kept the dispute as "non-receipt" until I would decide to escalate it, we were talking trough the comments and I was giving you time to answer. You then decided to escalate it before I could change it to the new reason. Yes new, since I filed the dispute before you gave me access.

Your argumentation makes me think you don't actually read half of what I say. As for the "refund". I got none. You are trying to keep your company (if we can call it that, since you seem to be the only person, handling payments, doing the support, and setting up(long wait times)) in a good light, however you lie so much it's horrible. I provide you with screenshots and evidence of my claims while you simply say I lie, with no explanations of how or why. All you do is say, "He lies and I refunded him". Usually if someone firmly someone else is lying he wouldn't refund him anyway he would fight for it.

    I don't buy your lies.

Maybe you don't understand half of what I say?

    Peut-ĂȘtre que ceci serait mieux?

Anyway sorry Freestyla for hijacking your thread, but Mike seems more responsive here when his hosting image is in troubled waters than on paypal dispute where the stakes are only 24.95$
