XXXTentacion murder suspect claims prosecution are violating his rights

One of four men arrested on suspicion of murdering XXXTentacion has claimed prosecutors are violating his rights.

XXXTentacion, whose real name is Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was shot and killed while leaving a motorcycle dealership in Florida on June 18, 2018. He was 20 years old.

Michael Boatwright was arrested in connection to his death earlier this summer but is now accusing the prosecution of violating his 14th amendment rights to due process. According to documents obtained by Complex, Boatwright’s defence team have claimed the prosecution are withholding documents and information that could help his case.

The defence are looking to gain access to arrest warrant affidavits, witness lists, police reports, and any other information regarding the evidence against the 22-year-old. His legal team have demanded the documents be handed over immediately.

“Other than the broadly worded indictment, the State has provided no information whatsoever regarding the nature of the evidence against Mr. Boatright,” his lawyer reportedly wrote. “Such failure by the State to furnish the Defendant with discovery has seriously impeded the preparation of the case and has thereby unjustly jeopardise the ability of Mr. Boatwright’s attorneys to prepare a defence.”

As well as Boatwright, Dedrick Williams, Robert Allen, and Trayvon Newsome have been indicted on charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery with a firearm.

Meanwhile, XXXTentacion will feature posthumously on Tory Lanez’s new album, ‘Love Me Now’. Lanez confirmed the appearance last week (September 4), sharing the news with fans on Twitter. “R.I.P the young legend,” he wrote.
