Winamp is still my preferable music player, latest version 5.666 build 3516

Why ? As other mentioned before ..it's a simple player, and does the job.

My music files are mainly in flac or mp3, and winamp plays both types without any problems

I like playing music in random mode, so i use the built-in Replay gain to automatically adjust the loudness between the individual tracks (Replay gain doesn't harm the quality of the files in any way, it's just an information in the tags of the mp3 and flac)

As i'm sometimes acting as a dj for my friends, i'm using the SqrSoft Advanced Crossfading Output-plugin, which automatically fades between the party music tracks in an acceptable way. Though on different sites declared defunct, this plugin is still alive, up-to-date, and can be downloaded here : http://sqrsoft.com.ar/downloads.html

There're countless skins out there. Mine is a Star Trek-theme, and can be downloaded here : http://www.startreklives.de/main/down_skins1.htm

As long as i don't preamp with winamp itself, the sound quality seems to me ok. But the day someone persuades me to a definitely higher sound quality player, is maybe the last day of winamp on my computer.

Sonos, but my library resides in iTunes on a Mac Mini. As I recovering audiophile, I find that I simply listen to more music with Sonos

Can tell you what I absolutely can't stand: iTunes - as for fave... less clear. WinAmp was awesome in the 00s... maybe I need to go back to that.
