Man, what a tough question for a guy with musical schizophrenia, I have everything from Adele to Down to UGK in my iTunes so I guess my favorite genre is the kind you can hear lol. If I have to pick one I have to go with classic rock, Blackberry Smoke being my favorite at the time being, but since I bought Ableton Live and the Push controller I've been making a lot of electronic music although I never listen to much other than old 80's synth pop, it's a guilty pleasure: cue the Hungry Like the Wolf jokes. My favorite guitarist of all time has to be Stevie Ray but Hendrix and Warren Haynes are close seconds. I like the new wave of stoner metal like The Sword and Red Fang. You guys mentioned Iron Maiden and no self respecting rehabilitated metal head dislikes Iron Maiden. Piece of Mind and Number of the Beast are both classic albums IMHO. My girl has me listening to a lot of pop music these days which I used to think was a bunch of bubble gum, derivative, garbage juice, these days I'm digging some of that even some new Hip Hop. Sam Smith is a talented dude, one guy mentioned Lennon, he has to be the most prolific songwriter in history that dude could bang great songs out and people forget exactly what the Beatles really did for music, which was bring blues, rock n roll, and pop songwriting altogether in one package for the masses. I like seeing so many diverse answers to this one.
