Quite the supergroup....

Paul McCartney formed an impromptu supergroup at his London show last night as he invited Ringo Starr and Ronnie Wood to join him on stage.

As the Beatles icon performed to a sold out crowd at the O2 Arena, he was joined by his former bandmate and Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood on ‘Get Back.’ The special moment, which can be viewed in full below, came during the encore of the career spanning show.

The arrival of Wood and Starr came after the pair were spotted in the crowd earlier in the evening. Before the show began, photos posted on Twitter showed the legendary Beatles stickman being joined surrounded by excited fans.

It was later confirmed that Wood was in attendance, alongside The Who‘s Roger Daltrey.

An Instagram post from McCartney’s fashion designer daughter Stella also showed her with Macca, Starr, Wood, and actor Emma Thompson. “Kick ass tonight dad,” she captioned the photo.

Reviewing Paul McCartney’s recent homecoming show earlier this week, NME‘s Gary Ryan said that the concert was “another example, surely, of Macca refusing to bow to the march of time”.

“In an interview to promote ‘Egypt Station’, he said he’d once ingested so many drugs, he saw the face of God. Judging by tonight’s transcendent gig, perhaps he just looked in the mirror.”
