Florence Welch paid tribute to the man who should’ve been standing where she was on the Glastonbury main stage on Friday (June 26) by covering the Foo Fighters classic “Times Like These.”

Florence + The Machine were promoted to the night’s headlining act after Foos frontman Dave Grohl broke his leg during a concert in Sweden on June 12, forcing the band to scrap their Glastonbury set.

But no matter — bathed in the orange and purple glow of the Pyramid Stage and backed by a sprightly horn section, Welch gave Foo fans their fix with a sing-a-long rendition of the One By One hit “Times Like These.”

“We would like to dedicate this next song to the legend and all-around incredible human being Dave Grohl,” Welch told the crowd before kicking the song off. “He was so incredibly kind and supportive to us when we were first starting out and we were so sad to hear that he broke his leg because we love him so much. And Dave, if you are listening, we love you, we all love you, and we hope through the Glastonbury ley lines this gets to you and you feel better, we’re sending you so much love. This one’s for you, Dave.”



Welch and Co. definitely give the song justice by keeping Grohl’s sentiment and power intact, while also infusing their own unique flavor. It definitely has us thinking: any way we can make a Flo/Foo collab happen? The Flo Fighters? Foo and the Machine? The possibilities here are endless.
