It was the first outing of the song from the band's latest album, 'Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino'

Arctic Monkeys debuted ‘Science Fiction’ for the first time last night (September 7) as their UK tour continued in Manchester.

‘Science Fiction’ is taken from the band’s latest, sixth studio album, ‘Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino’ which was released in May.

On the opening night of their tour on Wednesday, (September 6), the band played ‘Dancing Shoes’ for the first time in four years.

Prior to this tour, the band have only played one headline show – at London’s Royal Albert Hall – in the UK since releasing sixth album in May.

Despite the band performing covers of The Strokes and The White Stripes while on tour in the US, no covers featured in the set tonight.

The band’s latest album was given a 4 star review by NME earlier this year. It said: “the album’s title is a fitting one: this record feels a lot like gazing into the night sky.”

“At first it’s completely overwhelming – you’ll be trying to connect the scattered dots on this initially impenetrable listen, and maybe even despairing when it doesn’t all come together. But when the constellations show through, you’ll realise that it’s a product of searingly intelligent design.”
