He'll be joining Maroon 5

Travis Scott will be joining Maroon 5 at the 2019 Super Bowl halftime show in Atlanta, Georgia, according to reports by TMZ.

The show takes place at the city’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on February 2, halfway through one of the biggest sporting events on the planet.

Last year, Justin Timberlake performed with over 100 million viewers watching worldwide.

TMZ also claim that Atlanta’s own Big Boi of Outkast is also in talks to perform, while Cardi B, who features on Maroon 5’s ‘Girls Like You’, is said to have been approached.

Back in February, Cardi said that she would only perform if “they hire Colin Kaepernick back”. The quarterback famously kneeled during the US National Anthem as a protest against police brutality.

This follows news that Maroon 5 were turned down by more than half a dozen artists who were approached to appear with them during the performance.

As well as Cardi B, Post Malone and Bruno Mars will be in Atlanta in the days ahead of the Super Bowl. Outkast’s Andre 3000, Lauryn Hill, and Nicki Minaj are also said to be considering appearing.

The ‘Moves Like Jagger’ group have faced criticism for signing up to perform at the event and not standing in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick.

In October, Amy Schumer urged the band to turn the offer down after it was reported that Rihanna had shunned the Half Time Show to stand with Kaepernick. Last month, a Change.org petition was set up calling for the band to reconsider.

Meanwhile, Scott has recently made good on his promise to design T-shirts for a high school graduating class.
