The Chicago festival will return to Grant Park in August

The first names for Lollapalooza 2019 have been announced, led by Tame Impala, Janelle Monáe, and Lil Wayne.

The Chicago festival will take place in the city’s Grant Park between August 1-4. Tickets are on sale now.

The line-up announcement was made today (March 19) via a 13-minute long video featuring dogs which are available for re-homing at the PAWS Chicago animal shelter. A variety of dogs appeared in the video, moving balls off a screen to show images of the acts playing the festival as a narrator read out clues to eventually reveal their identities.

The full list of artists confirmed for Lollapalooza 2019 so far is as follows:

Tame Impala

Lil Wayne

Last year’s festival saw the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Jack White, Vampire Weekend, Pale Waves, The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, The National, Lil Uzi Vert and more perform.

Meanwhile, Tame Impala are set to appear on Saturday Night Live later this month. The Australian band will serve as the musical guests on the comedy show on March 30. Actor Sandra Oh will host the episode.

Band leader Kevin Parker spoke about the follow-up to ‘Currents’ in January, saying he didn’t want to rush it. “I wouldn’t want in 20 years to be listening to an album I made now and think that I finished it for any deadline or any particular reason. It was finished because it was finished.”

The group are also scheduled to headline this year’s Coachella festival, alongside Ariana Grande and Childish Gambino.
