In stores by the end of next week

Stormzy is partnering with Adidas Originals for a new apparel collection named ‘Adidas Originals SPRT‘, which is available from next Friday (November 30).

The collection currently includes track pants, track tops and tees, and feature the grime MC’s #Merky branding. According to Adidas the selection aims to “celebrate and promote urban youth culture and creativity.”

You can browse the initial items in the SPRT collection here, which is advertised as “shifting the sportswear status quo”. The collection was “inspired by archive pieces from the 1990s and 2000s.”

The news comes shortly after Stormzy was confirmed as the first headliner of Glastonbury 2019. It also claims that either Childish Gambino or Liam Gallagher will play on the same day, while The Cure and Paul McCartney are likely to be the other two headliners.

Earlier this year, Stormzy announced the launch of new publishing imprint #MerkyBooks, in partnership with Penguin Random House saying “We will be using this as a platform for young writers to become published authors.”

At the launch of the imprint earlier this month, he said that the scholarship scheme that he launched to help young black British students attend Cambridge was originally rejected by Oxford University.

A spokesperson for Oxford University subsequently denied the claims.

Last year, Stormzy also made headlines by donating £9,000 to a crowdfunding campaign for a fan to attend Harvard.
