"Not the weather - rapper from Croydon"

Stormzy has featured on a new list of “youth slang translations” issued by police to ensure that they’re down with the kids.

Surrey Police shared the list as part of “youth language training” that will help them engage with young people in the Reigate and Banstead areas.

But among the usual lexicon, there’s an unexpected mention for Stormzy – who hails from nearby Croydon.

“Stormzy. Not the weather – rapper from Croydon”, the list confirms.

There’s also a mention for GOAT – which doesn’t refer to the four-legged farmyard dweller.

“GOAT = Greatest of all time”, the list confirms.

Although humorous, it’s a good thing that they’re fully acquainted with Stormzy’s name as his talent continues to soar.

After winning the Best British Album at the BRIT Awards earlier this year, the star teased that he’s in line for a headline slot at Glastonbury next year.

Last month, bookies slashed the odds on a Glastonbury headline set after he updated his Instagram story with a post mimicking Noel Gallagher’s 2008 quote about Jay-Z.

The slashed odds have seen Stormzy slide into fourth place, with a 7/2 chance from the artists most likely to headline. The current odds have put Kendrick Lamar at the top with 6/4, while Elton John and Kylie Minogue are a close second and third.

In August, Stormzy also launched a scholarship that will help fund two black British students to go to the University of Cambridge.
