This is your last chance to see the Mercury winners for a while...

Wolf Alice has teased that a few surprises may be in store for their final gigs of 2018. Watch our video interview with the band above.

Speaking to NME on the red carpet before they won the Mercury Music Prize 2018 for their acclaimed album ‘Visions Of A Life‘, the band said that they were hoping to get into the festive spirit for their upcoming trio of December shows in London and Manchester.

“We are going to play songs that we haven’t maybe ever played live,” said bassist Theo Ellis. “We are going to play songs that we haven’t played for a while – it’s also very near Christmas so that’s a good excuse to play some of the greatest music ever written, which is Christmas songs!

“We want to get a Michael Buble impersonator.”

Quizzed on their favourite Christmas singles, the band chose The Darkness’ ‘Don’t Let The Bells End’, The Pogues’ ‘Fairytale Of New York’, Slade’s ‘Merry Christmas Everybody’ and Gary Jules’ cover of ‘Mad World’.

Quizzed on which of the above to cover, the band selected Slade as a duet with Slaves.

Asked about what they’ll be doing with the £25,000 prize money, hours before winning, drummer Joel Amey said the band could “do a lot of good”

“It’s a huge amount of money. I think in the right hands with bands and stuff you could do a lot of good and a lot of productive work with it.”

He added: “We are based in London so it would be great to get a space in London…[or] maybe go back into the studio whilst we’re having some time off maybe. There’s endless possibilities with a sum of money that big and if we were to win it we would definitely take a long hard think about using it responsibly and creatively.”
