Featuring Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner and Meredith Graves

Savages members Fay Milton and Ayse Hassan have announced their new side project titled 180dB, sharing first single ‘Road Trip’.

The song features Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner and Perfect Pussy‘s Meredith Graves on vocals. The video is a hazy, hypnotic visual that mimics the raging punk energy of the track.

According to a press release, the song came about as a result of a chance meeting between Milton and Goldie at a political rally last year. Goldie played her ‘Upstart (Road Trip)’, his collab with Skepta, and challenged Milton to make a “raging punk” interpretation of the track.

A description for the video says 180dB are “a continuously morphing supergroup built around Fay Milton and Ayse Hassan, the highly-respected rhythm section of post-punk firebrands Savages.”

Earlier this month it was announced that Savages’ Jehnny Beth will star in new movie called An Impossible Love. The film is an adaptation of French author Christine Angot’s 2015 novel Un Amour Impossible, is directed by Catherine Corsini and co-stars Virginie Efira and Niels Schneider.

The story focuses on a “short but intense” romance in the 1950s between a young office clerk and a wealthy man that gives birth to a daughter. Beth plays the daughter in her adult years.

As the synopsis puts it: “Over the next 50 years, their lives will be shaped by the unconditional love between a mother and her daughter, overshadowed by the impossible love of a woman for a man that rejects her, and of a daughter for an absent and abusive father.”

Savages have not released new material since their 2016 album ‘Adore Life’, although Beth has recently joined Damon Albarn and Gorillaz on their recent tour dates.
