It follows on from the recent premiere of the investigative docuseries 'Surviving R. Kelly'

R. Kelly is reportedly under criminal investigation in the state of Georgia.

The singer was recently the subject of the investigative docuseries Surviving R. Kelly, which focused on Kelly’s history of alleged sexual abuse and contained interviews with a number of his alleged victims. The 52-year-old described the six-part Lifetime series as having a “vendetta” against him, and denied knowing half of the women featured in the series after being provided with information by his team.

Kelly has faced numerous allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse over the past two years. He has denied all of the claims which have been made against him.

As reported by both The Blast and TMZ this evening (January 8), Kelly is now reportedly under criminal investigation in Georgia over alleged sexual misconduct. Sources claim that the Fulton County District Attorney’s office is looking into allegations of sexual abuse, and have contacted multiple women as a result of the allegations which were made in Surviving R. Kelly.

TMZ also reports that detectives fielded numerous phone calls once the much-talked-about docuseries aired between January 3-5.

Elsewhere, John Legend – who passionately spoke out against Kelly in Surviving R. Kelly and afterwards on Twitter – defended himself after he was accused of hypocrisy online following the re-circulation of a picture of himself and Harvey Weinstein from 2016.
