The tracks were recorded in 1993

Primal Scream will release their long-lost ‘Give Out But Don’t Give Up’ recordings for the first time.

The band went to Memphis’ Ardent Studios in 1993 to work on a new album with producer Tom Dowd and the Muscle Shoals rhythm section.

They later re-worked those tracks with a new producer, George Drakoulias. Those songs then became their 1994 album, ‘Give Out But Don’t Give Up’, meaning those original 1993 demos were left unreleased.

Now, guitarist Andrew Innes has found them in his basement and the band plan to release them in a new album, ‘Give Out But Don’t Give Up: The Original Memphis Sessions.’ It’ll be released on October 12 via Sony Music.

They also revealed that as part of the celebrations for the first National Album Day, Oxford Street’s HMV will host a special album playback of ‘Give Out But Don’t Give Up: The Original Memphis Recordings’ on Thursday 11th October.

Primal Scream’s track ‘Damaged’ was part of Secret 7″ earlier this year. Secret 7″ saw over 700 designers choose a track by one of seven selected artists, before designing a one-of-a-kind sleeve design for a limited 7” vinyl release. Just 100 copies of each track were pressed, with the identity of each record’s designer remains a mystery until it’s been purchased.

The likes of Sir Anish Kapoor, Sir Paul Smith, Jake & Dinos Chapman, Es Devlin, Rob Ryan, Jean Julian, Paul Simonon and hundreds more have all designed artwork for the project this year.
