New Order share trailer of new documentary series ‘TRANSMISSIONS’
"This is the story of Movement. Told by New Order."
New Order have shared a trailer for an upcoming new documentary series about their classic debut album, ‘Movement’.
The series will “tell the story” of the Manchester band’s 1981 debut, which was released in the year following the demise of Joy Division: the band that brought about New Order’s incarnation. In the teaser clip, New Order bassist said: “To be one band with such a distinct identity is pretty bloody lucky, but then to get a complete and separate identity was amazing.”
Weekly episodes of TRANSMISSIONS will launch via New Order’s YouTube channel from next Thursday, March 7.
Elsewhere in the trailer, drummer Stephen Morris recalls smoking “a lot of pot” while making ‘Movement’ (which, he adds, was upgraded to acid for New Order’s second record ‘Power, Corruption & Lies’), while guitarist/singer Bernard Sumner speaks of the “daunting” feeling of entering unchartered territory as a vocalist.
In other news, the iconic band have been announced as headliners for this year’s Victorious Festival in Portsmouth on August 25.
Bernard Sumner said of the headline slot: “After months of touring it felt like we needed to find the perfect setting for our last show of the summer, I believe we have found it! We can’t wait to play at Victorious and its picturesque seaside location!”
