The fourteenth studio album of Simon’s career, ‘In the Blue Light’ will feature re-imagined versions of ten songs from his back-catalogue.

Speaking about the project earlier this year, Simon said: “I hope the listener will find these new versions of old songs refreshed, like a new coat of paint on the walls of an old family home.”

He added: “It’s an unusual occurrence for an artist to have the opportunity to revisit earlier works and re-think them; to modify, even completely change parts of the originals.”

“Happily, this opportunity also gave me the gift of playing with an extraordinary group of musicians, most of whom I hadn’t recorded with before.”

Simon has been performing a series of “farewell gigs” over the last year after he decided to “bring his performing career to an end.”

He added: “I’ve often wondered what it would feel like to reach the point where I’d consider bringing my performing career to a natural end. Now I know: it feels a little unsettling, a touch exhilarating and something of a relief.”

“I love making music, my voice is still strong, and my band is a tight, extraordinary group of gifted musicians. I think about music constantly. I am very grateful for a fulfilling career and, of course, most of all to the audiences who heard something in my music that touched their hearts.”
