With a little help from Mark Ronson and Lennon and Ono's son Sean

Miley Cyrus has recorded a cover of John Lennon and Yoko Ono‘s ‘Happy Xmas (War Is Over)’ – listen to the festive track below.

Originally released in 1971 by John & Yoko/The Plastic Ono Band, the song has been covered numerous times over the years – with the likes of Neil Diamond, Diana Ross and Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy having all taken on the Christmas classic.

Cyrus has now put her own spin on ‘Happy Xmas…’, enlisting Mark Ronson and Lennon’s son Sean to record the cover. Speaking about her version, Cyrus told Howard Stern: “It’s just so magic every time we sing it … goosebumps all over the place.

“This song… the way that it is so true to where we are right now and these lyrics of ‘what have we done?’ Are we doing enough, are we actually active? All we do is complain and we don’t actually get out there and do enough in our communities. I think it’s so timely for right now.”

Cyrus, Ronson and Sean Lennon will all perform the cover on tomorrow night’s edition of Saturday Night Live (December 15).

Last month, Cyrus and Ronson released their collaboration ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’.
