Stars will unite to try and keep Kavanaugh from being voted into the Supreme Court

Michael Stipe, Erykah Badu, and more will protest against Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination for the Supreme Court later this week.

Kavanaugh could be confirmed into the highest court in America for a lifetime position if a vote from US Senators goes in his favour. However, the FBI have opened an investigation into Kavanaugh relating to sexual assault allegations made against him. He has denied the claims.

Stars will unite outside the Supreme Court in Washington D.C. on Thursday (October 4), according to Billboard. Along with Stipe and Badu, Alicia Keys, Esperanza Spalding, Amanda Palmer, and more are set to appear at the event.

Those who can’t make the protest have been encouraged by organisers Party Majority PAC to sign a pledge to protest locally. “If there was ever a moment when the voice of the people can come together in concert to change the fate of our nation, this is it,” they wrote.

“Arm in arm, organized and ready, every child, woman, and man, must take to the streets to protest this nomination.”

They added they anticipated a vote “on the Senate floor to confirm Brett Kavanaugh as early as Friday” (October 5). “It is critical we make our voices heard on the ground in Washington,” they added.

Meanwhile, UB40 have responded to reports Kavanaugh was allegedly involved in a college bar fight with an “Ali Campbell lookalike”.

The alleged incident is said to have taken place in a Yale bar in 1985, shortly after the band played a gig in the area. A spokesperson for Robin Campbell, brother of singer Ali, said: “Obviously, there must have been an assault because the police were called and a report was filed. But this is a case of mistaken identity and has nothing to do with UB40.”
