"I had a dodgy tummy that night."

James Blunt has proved his comedic chops on Twitter once more, after being challenged with an unlikely question about a honeymoon suite.

The ‘You’re Beautiful’ singer provided a hilarious comeback after one user explained how their sister had got married at a hotel in Sri Lanka where he had previously stayed.

“My sister just got married at reef villa, Sri Lanka and apparently they are staying in the same room as you did,” they wrote.

“What we wanna know, did you bang in that bed… could be their claim to fame!”

Blunt confirmed that he did indeed sleep in the bed – but it certainly wasn’t the amorous scenario that you’d expect.

“Sadly not. I had a dodgy tummy that night and shat the bed. Do send them my regards,” Blunt responded.

To no one’s surprise, the response soon clocked up over 10,000 retweets and 80,000 likes.

“To be honest, I’d take the claim to fame of ‘I once slept in a bed that James Blunt had shat the bed in,” responded one user.

It’s the latest in a string of razor-sharp Twitter responses from the usually mild-mannered songwriter. As well as previously taking down John Mayer, Blunt previously tackled Piers Morgan after the outspoken TV host accused Olly Murs of mistakenly believing a London terror threat in 2017.

Responding to the newspaper editor, he wrote: “From the man who published fake Iraqi torture pictures. LOL.”

Back in 2015, Blunt also responded to Noel Gallagher’s criticism of him being “boring”.
