It's said that Cardi B has "been going back and forth" over her decision to appear

Maroon 5 have been turned down by more than half a dozen artists who were approached to appear during the band’s Super Bowl Half Time Show, it has been reported.

The ‘Moves Like Jagger’ group have faced criticism for signing up to perform at the event and not standing in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick. The quarterback famously kneeled during the US National Anthem as a protest against police brutality.

In October, Amy Schumer urged the band to turn the offer down after it was reported that Rihanna had shunned the Half Time Show to stand with Kaepernick. Last month, a Change.org petition was set up calling for the band to reconsider. At present, it has over 73,000 signatures.

Now, it has been reported that Adam Levine and co. are struggling to convince artists to join them onstage at the Atlanta show in February. According to Variety, sources claim that the band have asked over half a dozen acts to play – although none have agreed to appear yet.

Cardi B, who features on Maroon 5’s ‘Girls Like You’, is said to have been approached. “She’s been going back and forth, but it’s a no right now,” sources told US Weekly. Back in February, Cardi said that she would only perform if “they hire Colin Kaepernick back”.

As well as Cardi B, Post Malone and Bruno Mars will be in Atlanta in the days ahead of the Super Bowl. Outkast’s Andre 3000, Lauryn Hill, and Nicki Minaj are also said to be considering appearing.

Speaking of the challenge Maroon 5 face with their show, PR Howard Bragman of La Brea Media told Variety: “It’s like a movie — if you can’t cast the biggest stars, you need a high-concept. If other networks smell a weaker show, they’re gonna be counter-programming, so you have to come out really strong.”

Bragman said that “there’s no question it’s going to be a challenge” for Adam Levine and his bandmates.

Maroon 5 are yet to confirm their Super Bowl Half Time Show appearance.
