It's the artist's first new material in over four years

Marina has shared her video for her brand new single ‘Handmade Heaven’ – watch the clip below.

The artist, who was formerly known as Marina and the Diamonds, has made her return to music after four years away. Produced by Lorde and Sam Smith producer Joel Little, the song “imagines a world as simple as the beautiful creatures and nature that surround her”, according to a press release.

The Sophie Muller-directed video for her comeback song ‘Handmade Heaven’ has dropped today (February 8) and features Marina traversing a snowy landscape – check it out below.

The follow-up to Marina’s last album, 2015’s ‘Froot’, is expected later this year. The record has been written and recorded over the past two years across London, Sweden, and LA. Collaborators on the upcoming album include Noonie Bao, Sam De Jong, Oscar Görres, Camille Purcell, Justin Parker, and Joe Janiak.

The press release also reveals that Marina spent her time away from music “as a period of reflection and to rediscover her authentic self, as opposed to the artist and persona (‘and The Diamonds’) she had lived and breathed since signing her record deal at the age of 22.”

As well as creating the MarinaBook platform “as a vehicle to talk about topics outside of music that felt important to her (social media, material status, mental health, psychology)”, Marina also returned to university during her break from music to study human personality and attachment theory.
