In the weeks before Casey Kasem's death in June at the age of 82, a long string of messy family drama escalated with each new day. Now it's unfortunately become evident that the American Top 40 host's passing didn't ease the tension between Jean Kasem — Casey's 60-year-old wife of more than three decades — and the three children Casey Kasem fathered in his first marriage. "A judge has granted Casey Kasem's daughter a temporary restraining order preventing the famous radio host's wife from cremating his remains," the Associated Press reports, "but it's unclear where those remains are or whether they've already been disposed of."

On Friday, Kasem's daughter Kerri had her lawyer visit the Tacoma, Washington funeral home where the DJ's remains were being kept. "They said they could not disclose where [Kasem's body] had gone or where he would end up," the lawyer, Scott Winship, told the AP. Funeral director Tim Grant confirmed this, saying, "I cannot discuss the actual arrangements themselves, but he's no longer in our care."

Jean Kasem completed a death certificate for her husband on July 15. She listed a Jerusalem, Israel address and expressed intentions to have the body taken to a funeral home in Montreal. The AP attempted to follow this lead, calling the listed Canadian establishment, only to find "it had disposed of no such remains and had no one by the name of Casey Kasem in its computer system."

This sad, strange news is just the latest difficulty between Jean Kasem and the three children Casey Kasem fathered in his first marriage. Kasem had been suffering from dementia for some time, with his caretaking arrangements becoming a bone of contention within the family. In May, Kerri Kasem filed a missing person's report for her father. He was quickly found in Washington, with Kerri insisting that he had been kidnapped, possibly by Jean.
