"no editing, no fussing, no auto-tune"

Mystery Jets have shared two previously unreleased songs on their new record ‘Live To Vinyl’.

“Stormborn” is an unheard track from 2016 ‘Curve Of The Earth’ album sessions, and a cover of The Waterboys’ classic 1985 hit ‘The Whole Of The Moon’.

Both tracks were recorded and cut live to vinyl this summer, in front of an audience at London’s Metropolitan Studios.

The limited edition white vinyl record was released today (October 26).

In a press release, the band spoke about the session: “At Metropolis Studios this summer, we invited a small audience of special guests and competition winners to witness a one off recording session of two songs.”

The Jets also revealed that the lucky live audience were involved in choosing which versions of the songs should be chosen for the record.

“Performing both numbers twice each we then asked our guests on the other side of the glass which rendition of the two should be committed to vinyl,” they revealed. “It was an exhilarating experience as well as a rear chance to wholeheartedly commit to a musical moment in time…no editing, no fussing, no auto-tune.”

In a review of the band’s last full album, 2016’s ‘Curve of the Earth’, NME said: “Immaculate pop choruses are scattered throughout, like glossy apples in the boughs of a flourishing tree.”

Last year, Mystery Jets brought the curtain down on the first ten years of their career with ‘Jetrospective’, a five-night residency at London’s Garage that saw them playing each of their albums in full.

Across five sold-out shows, the Eel Pie Island four-piece were welcomed with a cult-like fervour that goes far in proving how they’re quietly thriving as one of Britain’s most consistently popular bands.
