Yet he was impressed by the 'Radioactive' band...

Lil Wayne has been slammed by Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin for his live collaboration with Imagine Dragons last night.

The US rapper joined forces with the Las Vegas band at the 2019 National College Football Championship halftime show, which was held at Treasure Island in San Francisco, California. Together, they performed a remix of Imagine Dragons’ 2017 hit ‘Believer’ – with the new version of the track now available to stream online.

Following the show, Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin took to Twitter to air his harsh views on Lil Wayne – even tagging the artist himself in the post.

Bevin wrote: “Way to ruin an entertaining [Imagine Dragons] half-time concert with the weird rantings of a tired, has-been like [Lil Wayne].”

He went on to questionably suggest that Imagine Dragons are “still rising”, adding: “The other [Wayne], not so much…”

Lil Wayne finally released his long-delayed album ‘Tha Carter V’ in September last year. In a three-star review, NME said: “This album could have been Wayne’s melancholic swansong, an elegiac homage to his own career, reflections from the elder statesman of hip-hop.

“At this point in history, Lil Wayne seems more like a grizzled country singer than a rap superstar.”

Elsewhere, Imagine Dragons released their latest album ‘Origins‘ in November. Upon its announcement, vocalist Dan Reynolds said: “It’s about seeking new ground but also appreciating your roots. When we create, we create with no boundaries, no rules. We find it thrilling to make music that feels different and new to us.”
