He'll be on lead vocals, just like his dad

Liam Gallagher‘s son Gene Gallagher is launching his own rock band, following in his dad’s footsteps as lead vocalist.

The band is called Grimmo and will also see Gene on guitar. His friend Cody Grimaldi is also on guitar, while Alf Carroll will play the drums.

Yesterday (October 24), Gene shared a picture of the band on his Instagram account. The pic spurred on hundreds of comments, with one reading: “Call the band Oasis please”.

Speaking to The Streets Mike Skinner and Manchester Murkage Dave on their Spotify podcast, In The Third Person, Liam said: “Gene was into Arctic Monkeys big style and that, but now he’s f**king flipped. It’s all J Hus and Dave and all that, and every time we go out it’s all that stuff going on, which I know nothing about.”

The pair asked the former Oasis frontman if he’d want Gene to start a band. “Yeah, but not necessarily a rock’n’roll band, d’you know what I mean?

“It’ll be interesting to hear his mix and how he brings all this grime stuff into his version of rock’n’roll, or guitar music, or whatever it is. You sort of throw everything in the pot and see what comes out.”

Earlier this week (October 20), Liam took aim at Radiohead in a series of late night tweets.

The frontman criticised “the rapping in the middle of the Bends” and ‘Karma Police’ – “Karma Police ffs” – and also asked: “how the fuck did these teds get big?” Gallagher also referenced a number of other Radiohead songs during his rant.

He called the band “Radio play” before ending his tweet barrage with “Rite its going off.” It wasn’t the first time he’s had a go at Radiohead. In 2011, he told the band “to go fuck yourself” after criticising their album ‘The King of Limbs’. Gallagher took aim at them writing a song “about a fucking tree.”
