Ariana Grande also stays at the top for the third week running in the UK albums chart

Lewis Capaldi has scored his first ever Number One single on the Official UK singles chart with ‘Someone You Loved’.

The track has gone from Number 3 to the top spot, logging 58,000 combined sales, including 6 million audio streams. It first entered the Top 100 at Number 66 back in January and has steadily climbed over the past nine weeks.

“Look who it is at Number 1! If you’ve listened to it, bought it, streamed it… thanks very much. This is my first Number 1 so I’m officially a one-hit wonder on the Official Charts,” Capaldi told OfficialCharts.com.

The Scottish singer-songwriter made his Official Chart singles chart debut last November with ‘Grace’, which reaches a new peak at Number 24 in this week’s Top 40. His debut album, ‘Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent’, is out on May 17.

Calvin Harris & Rag’n’Bone Man’s ‘Giant’ had to settle for second place, finishing 1,900 combined sales behind Capaldi, while last week’s Number One ‘7 Rings’ by Ariana Grande slips to Number Four.

In the UK albums chart Grande’s ‘Thank U, Next’ stays at Number One for a third week, holding off competition from ‘The Greatest Showman’.

It finished 5,000 combined sales ahead of the cast recording, which takes second place after Hugh Jackman’s performance of The Greatest Show at last week’s BRIT Awards.

Meanwhile, Capaldi will hit the UK and Ireland for a tour in November. You can purchase tickets here.
