The Melbourne band will hit the capital later this year for the major gig

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have announced a huge show at London’s Alexandra Palace.

The prolific Melbourne band will play their biggest-ever headline show to date at the 10,000-capacity venue in the capital, with the promise of “a new set, new songs and a whole new visual experience” being made by the psych-rock troupe.

The gig will take place on Saturday October 5, with tickets due to go on sale at 10am on Friday (February 8).

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard recently released the retro video for their latest single ‘Cyboogie’, which you can see above. The track is expected to feature on the follow-up to their last LP ‘Gumboot Soup’, which came out in December 2017 – completing a staggering five album releases in the space of just 10 months.

Their November 2017 album ‘Polygondwanaland’ was presented in an unusual format, with the band releasing the digital, CD and vinyl masters of the tracks and leaving fans to press their own copies and, if they so wished, sell them on for profit.

“I suppose with releasing a fair amount of other music this year, it felt like we owed people a present for being so generous and coming to shows,” frontman Stu Mackenzie told NME at the time. “But it also felt like a fascinating experiment for us to do, on a purely selfish level, just to see what would happen.”
